What gearbox's will fit my 172??

Hi guys, ive a mk2 ph2 172, going to take the chance and do a load of work in one hit, engine mounts need doing so ill take the opertunity to do the gearbox.

Are there any clio sport gearbox's that arent compatible?

Pretty sure a read a 172 cup box won't fit, what about the earlier clio sports?

Maybe easier to ask what boxes will fit?

the cup box will fit, the main differences are that the ph1 and 172 cup have a speed sensor on the box (the other 1*2's use the abs i believe) and have different ratios, although i don't know the specifics.
worth considering is that the later boxes have a slightly different set up in the syncros as the earlier ones tend to wear.

My third gear syncro is on its way lol

So a 172 cup gearbox from a mk2 ph2 would fit?

Will all the 182 gearbox's fit ok?

any of the boxes would fit,

third is always the first to go,

you would be better going for a 182 box as they have a different arrangement with the syncros, i think they are pressed together with a sleeve rather than a circlip which causes the wear, but i'm not 100% about that so i'd make sure!
