Removed the ktec engine mount and fitted a stock one! Ahhhh, so much better! God knows why anyone would want one.

And on that subject, anyone want to buy one. It’s totally awesome and transforms the car. Such great feel of the engine and everything will develop cool motorsport sounds (rattles)

Are your gearbox and dogbone mounts standard? Road Clios, standard mounts in good condition fine. Track cars and a must on turbo Clios all three well worth changing with Ktec engine and gearbox box mount along with Evol dog bone mount.

I have always found if only one of the mounts is changed it causes much more vibrations due to the other two trying to compensate! If that makes sense.

Went to get some petrol for the track day on Tuesday, the second time the car’s been out the garage this year, this time with a de-cat and f**k me I forgot how loud it is without a mid box, almost embarrassing to accelerate to hard tbh.

I have heard that theory. It’s got a poly bushed dog bone (was just looking for a stock one). Not sure about the top gearbox mount as haven’t looked.

Fitted new injectors and plugs for good measure as not been changed since 2013 according to the service book. Idle misfire gone now and running as it should be

Race car maybe but I don’t see the benefit for road and track days?

Maybe I’m just more sensitive to the noises & vibrations but it just goes right through me, made me reluctant to even Rev the car.

I drove my mate’s 182 the other day which is on the deck on coil overs but it felt so much better to Rev out.

I remember years ago (like 10 maybe) the top engine mount used to wear and people would say it was the cause of the rocking and exhaust knocking. I’m sure that’s what started it all for road cars. In reality a new OE style engine mount sorts that.

I wonder if the original mounts are just badly made. I fitted a new aftermarket (OE style) mount on my old 172 maybe 9 years ago as the old one was worn/squashed (the little pad bits) and it’s still perfect looking now (so would be the same age as the original)

Nothing, but I did add to my carbon fibre collection on my Daytona. Next task MOT then ride the bloody thing maybe!

Yeah I know what you mean. Mines had sound deadening took out and is a bit empty inside (not daft tho - rear seats out with sound deadening) - on idle it does rattle about.. but it’s on genuine Renault cup shocks with grams lowered springs and the ride isn’t really that bad. It’s just perfectly set up for daily usage - although it’s not used daily [emoji28] it lives in the garage. And then even when you wanna hoon it, it’s fantastic.

Everyone has their own tolerances. Depends what you want from it buddy. How easy the car is to live with and drive haha

Well on mine I found the complete, VT/Ktec mounts made it far nicer.

I was very surprised!!

That powerflex insert people fit is the biggest pile of s**t ever made though

Replaced the driveshaft i needed to replace last time i owned it. Filled the gearbox oil, drove it albeit in limp mode due to a wiring fault.
Oh and put the bumper on so it looks good in a photo.

Fitted new cup shocks and h&r springs all round (thanks to all the guides on here 😉). New bump stops, top mounts etc. Massive improvement over the old shocks and cooksport springs already.

Replaced the sidelight and indicator bulbs.

Fitted a new PIAA horn, still not working though 🤦‍♂️

Had new avon zv7 tyres fitted on Friday, decent so far.

New timing belt/water pump/thermostat for my little 1.2 16v. Would be lying if I said I wasn't bricking it, I can see why you take your 2.0 to a specialist.

Had a new set of PS3s fitted all round (from Halfords of all places!) and then cleaned it.

I was sweating by the time I’d finished so went inside and didn’t bother taking any pictures.

Edit - I lied.

I spy the fail sheet. Never seen one fail for corroded suspension mounting at the front. How bad is it?!
Its actually the jacking point, someone has jacked it up on the sill in the past and folded it 😩

I mean, that's a standard feature on a Clio. Amazed it's rotted that badly from that!
Its not even that bad to be fair, the car is going into a body shop for work soon and I had this looked at already as part of the deal 😉

It surely can’t have failed on a folded jacking point? Or has the inner sill/floor pan rotted through and holed?
There's no holes, just a completely folded over sill with no paint on it and a lovely rusty colour.
My bodyshop guy has given it a look over and says its no big deal 😉

Got the pressure washer out for a quick rinse off, turns out it makes a good paint remover for rattlecanned spoilers!

Not a Clio, but I had new tips welded on to my stock M135i exhaust. I like the stock sound but didn't like the black tips. I went for 3.5" inward rolled slash cut. Here's the before and after (excuse the filthy after shots):

Cleaned up the headlights on the 1.2. I had an old kit that I’ve used on cars before. If it was something nice then I’d put more effort in but I’m happy enough with the results.
