Yeah, Steve and Andy @ Birchdown are top blokes - but they are 77 miles one way away from me now. Nightingales are a tenth of that at just over 7 miles from work and by a quirk of luck, a work colleague lives about 300 yards away from them.

Drop my car off first thing and get a lift into work. Bonus.

Productive day today, interior back together, excess wiring tucked out of the way, front right hub was replaced with a known good one, new anti rotation link, track rod end, coilovers all measured (measurements off a mates 200) and set, coolant refilled and bled up too. Ready to come off the axle stands and go onto the trailer but that's a job for tomorrow!

Run up to temp, fan kicks in as it should and heater works as it should - Blows warm air at 15 degrees and blows warmer at 27 degrees. Perfect.

Absolute carnage. Tools everywhere.

Did realise once the seat was back in that the NS mirror is blocked by the cage... So if you're trying to get past me at CSF... I apologise in advance

Changed the Oil filter, oil, air filter, and pollen filter.

Then I changed the middle exhaust rubber whilst pondering my life choices.

Got it booked in at the end of July for a load of bits to be fitted to freshen up the front end and a different exhaust system to go with it.

Replaced spark plugs and injectors. Took ages, car runs like s**t now. I want my MX5 back

On the plus side I think I found my oil leak

Wife’s beetle got some mot advisories for corroded sills. I unbolted the wings so I could pull them away to have a look.

I was expecting some big duty holes but found this. Going to clean them up and treat with RC900

The rest of the sills in those areas look clean for a 21 year old car

That’s about the straightest VAG jacking points of that era that I’ve ever seen.
The ones on my mk1 Octavia vRS looked like it’d been lifted using a forklift

Investigated the small drip leak coming in from the driver's door. Clearly seeping in from the b*****d door card not being sat 99.999954% exactly spot on - so that will have to come off once again. Utter s**t design those things.

Anyways, took the opportunity to clean up around the main door seal. The usual amount of debris behind it, damp of course and not the best thing to have building up.

Cleaned it all up and on inspecting the seal, saw that the metal core of mine was badly corroded. Thankfully, I had taken the majority of the rubber seals off a Clio Campus recently - and being 4 years newer than mine, it was a logical swap. Went on with zero issues and with the assistance of a trim tool near the side of the dash.

The leading edge of the metal behind the seal had evidence of a few bits of paint loss too - so that was covered with the touch-up paint also. Probably just with the rubber moving slightly over time.

None of this was essential - but literally took less than half-an-hour start to finish - including refitment. Just left about an hour inbetween for the paint to dry. Next weekend, I'll do the passenger side too.

Washed it as it's the only evening I had free this week. Checked the oil level which was fine and topped up the coolant and screen wash

Got fed up with the exhaust leak due to a rotten cat to mid flange and finally got round to the horrid job of removing the old 172 cat.

Swapped out the old/mismatched inlet bolts for nice new ones. Also changed the oil and oil filter, which always makes a f**king mess no matter how much I try to avoid it

Fitted a RallyeFab intake from @ScottRallye into my 182 while feeling sorry for myself about not being at CSF
Sourced a proper breather tube to put on it and the proper ECU cover to get the bay sorted out, too lol

Not a Pipercross filter that, is it? Keep an eye on it if is - mine collapsed around the collar within a week. A few others had the same issue too.

Further to this - made a start on the passenger side today. Weird how crap build-up isn't anywhere near uniform between the passenger and driver's side.

The side of the windscreen leading up to the driver's A-pillar was pretty clean. The passenger side was clogged with s**t.
