What is a better base?

  182 cup
I am looking to build a track car in the not to distant future and wondered what the best base would be - either X65 or X85?

Obviously the extra weight of the 85 would r****d it but the exta standard power in a stripped car should pull it level?

What sort of lap delta's were there between the X65 & x85 race cars?

X65 is cheaper to get hold of which will allow budget so be used elsewhere. X85 is a more stable chassis in standard form. Depends if you are aesthetically driven ;)

i know what you mean jonny, i could get my standard 200 cup round Oulton faster than i could get the tuned 172 cup round which got me thinking the 85 had so mch more potential given more power and aftermarket handling

I'm not sure how chassis compare in uprated form though. I would imagine that the x85 is always going to handle better when both are modified. Depends on driving style also IMO. If you feel comfortable then you will always drive faster.

true, i never really had 100% confidence in the 172 under braking and turn in but I do in the 200.

But as you say, its the cost of the 85 initially

Good man. You intent on building something up or getting a racer? Get that yellow mk2 bought ;)

id build one up like a good friend of mine........

would keep it as a sunday car too so would need to keep light etc
