what is alcantara

as above really!!! what is this stuff really? is it just faux suede as i have worked in a textile company for 12 years and never been offered it by a wholesaler, however faux suede is running rife. really rubbish and pointless question but it is nagging me so had to ask!!

Kind of like faux suede but MUCH finer and harder-wearing. More expensive than leather as well (apparently).

alcantara is only sold by alcantara in italy few suppliers in the uk do it i couldnt get hold of any genuine stuff at all when i had my re-trim its around £60 a sq metre good leather is £50 tops

If i had the choice when buying of full leather or leather/alcantara i would choose full leather everytime.

full leather is more slippy.

So hence sports seats use alcantara as it grips you more, stop you sliding around the bends.

I hate full leather. Too hot in summer. Absolutely freezing b*****d cold in winter. Leather and alacantara everytime imho.

I find that full leather gets scratched a hell of a lot easier too.

Rather have alcantara over leather. Much nicer, less slippy and like lagerlout says not hot in the summer or cold in winter.
