what is this under the seat

Thats the "pre-time machine" equipment. No ones actually used it yet because said machine does not exist but its still a standard item.

looking at the picture its for the cd changer - i would say this vehicle had one before and has been removed that wire should have a connector on it - so it makes me wonder if is has been nicked at some point - also fron that picture there is a square piece of carpet missing over a bump (floor cross-member) this is where the factory/after fit cd changer bracket bolts down - you should also have two other square forward of the other one - if you can take the head unit out and look at that wiring too - like i said the original changer might of been stolen possibly also the original head unit

lol @ j3. i dont think ill b needin any of that!

i bought the car second hand and the guy said it never actually came with a cd changer. i know the cables r stupidly expensive, £80 sommit? i know there is no connector on the end, so i assume then that it is pretty usless?! would it be difficult to stick a connector on the end?! ill try and have a look at the head unit over the weekend to see if a cd changer cable is plugged into it....... maybe its just easier to replace it anyway with an mp3/minidisc jobbie?

james dont u mean the passenger seat? not the drivers? all the clios i looked at where either in the boot or under the passengers seat! ive never seen one under the drivers side?!

cheers guys

what type headunit is it? the vdo version with the two roundish buttons at either end?? if so the kit from ren would come with cable but you would have to get the bracket and fixings too!! not sure how much in totalish it would be though! always better of with a uprated head unit

yeh it has the 2 roun buttons at the end which control various bits, along with the numbers 1-6 in 2 rows along the middle........ just like every other 172?!

A new cable is £86 inc Vat.

The previous owners has cut it out and tried to sell it on (its probably the one I bought).

The bracket and screw are very cheap £16 I think for both and it will fit under either seat although its normally fitted under the passenger side.

The plastic tray will fit under the other seat if you want.

The normal Renault cd player is the one fitted to the whole Clio range I belive although the new ones have somehting written on them although it shouldnt have though it had any real implication.

The CD changer is fitted under the passenger seat, not the drivers.
It can be fitted under either seat usually under passengers though.

The other cable under there are for the seat belt pretentioner.
