The Induction Kit or the Power lead to the Amp/Sub?

IK = There to rob the car of power and torque.

Hi mate, thats my engine bay. The red filter is called an induction kit, basically it replaces the standard air box which is quiet and enviroment friendly and gives the car a nice grumble under acceleration. This roar sound is the air passing through the filter which can be suprisingly loud.

Ignore the comments about power and torque, they come from people who think they know alot more about cars then they really do, lets be honest, its a clio, torque doesn't really come into it.

These kits are good if you want your car to sound the business as well as look it.

Hope this helps.

Yep, the red cone thing replaces the standard air filter that normally lives in a box with a 'feed' to it that only lets cold air in. This is quite restrictive though so a cone Induction Kit like above can let the engine 'breathe' easier, but in traffic and in hot weather it can reduce power because it's sucking in warm air from around the engine rather than cooler, denser air from outside (which gives more power). On the move though there generally is little difference - at the most if will only only add or take away a few bhp!

Correct with regards to the torque....Made even worse with the addition of an open filter.

If noise is what you want, Fire on mate.

Open IK's do lose power, far to much heat soak. I may be wrong but I think this has been disscussed on here and proven with many test and rolling road graphs to back this up. Just ask the majority. In fact no dont, just do a search, its been done to death.

But they will sound good :S

Yer i have read alot of the posts about this, but it still doesn't change my opinion. I think the small bhp loss is more then made up for in the sound derpartment, it sounded like a hair dryer before i put this on. But then again that is my youung boy racer wanabe opinion so i apreciate other people would want a panel filter to insure they dont loose anything.

All i would say is if you took my 182 (with open filter and no other mods) and put it next to a 182 with a panel filter/standard air box (with no other mods) on the Santa Pod 1/4 mile, there would be virtually no difference, it would be all down to the driver.

also id be happy to test this, sounds like fun and put this debate to bed!

So basicaly 'The Induction Kit' make car sound more louder?

If so, I would hate it and will not buy it.

a maxogen is a 300 quid or somet closed induction kit , like a viper , personally id got with the viper as its cheaper and just as good , infact others would recomend it.

ITG panel filter , is a direct replacement for the standard air filter , basically a flat piece filter , that goes in the normal air box

I ran my car at York last year on what turned out to be a bloody hot day. The times in the hot afternoon on average were about half a second slower than in the morning when it was a lot cooler outside and in the engine bay. At Clio speeds this works out at about a cars length at the end of the quater mile.

It might not make a huge difference, but motorsport is lost and won on tenths of seconds.

Just for the record my afternon reaction times were actually quicker than the morning and I was running with a semi enclosed Hill Power IK.

Not sure what your point is there? Your times will slow down whether you have an open/closed/standard filter if the outside air temperature increases... the amount is debatable in relation to what filter you have.

What I was trying to say was that an increase in air temp going into the engine wether it be down to an increase in outside temp or your induction temp through different types of filter it will affect your performance / times.

£370 if we're bein picky. But there are bargains to be had if you look out for them..

Viper = Gash.
