Doesn't need to be anything fancy, Just smart and small!
I've got a Removeable HD for the SLR and Music etc. so space ain't a huge factor

In an ideal world the Mac is perfect, but i hate Apple operating systems!

Idea's links...No budget.

dell 430 is fairly average tbh. i have had quite a bit of experience with them...

the sony range are awesome and would do what you need perfectly, but they're pricey...

i need wireless too? is that the right word! To access the net from anywhere in the flat?!

I'm useless with comps! And technology.

See, I'm completely the opposite.. I wouldn't touch a Sony Vaio.. but I have a D420. I've configured 3/4 Vaio SZ's, and all have been very poor for the money/performance/*

Everyone has a different opinion.. which is good :)

Aye you can partition a mac and run mac os on one partition and windows on the other, you get sod all tech support from mac if doing so as they don't wanna help you use windows.

Plus you have to shut down (lof off) and start up again to switch between the 2, bit of a pain, but I guess you'd just run it in windows all the time. Pretty much all laptops will be wireless enabled these days I'd think.

check out www.laptopsdirect.co.uk www.acernotebooks.co.uk (same people I believe) I got my Acer from them and it's been great.

^ My boss got sod all support from the mac shop he bought his very expensive imac from, but he's 72 lol

My Macbook Pro was 99% awesome. The last 1% was lost because it just got WAY too hot underneath.. (and it was slightly too big at 15" widescreen)

If this 13.3" MBP rumour is true, I could well be getting one.. :p

Ali fire onto hotukdeals as there's £350 offers off dells today and another dell deal link.

Yeah you don't need a modem in the laptop if you have a wireless router with modem at the wall.

id agree there...i had a lesser spec one which was fine, then got another one in september there, absolutely woeful! i hated it so much i sold it on ebay. and when i was in NY i bought a HP pavilion DV2620, which is so much better and alot more for the money too.

14.1 screen, wireless, 25gb hdd, 2gd ram and touch sensitive butons, car reader etc and lightscribe

Nothing Yingtong or random! Sony, dell, acer...etc

Can you get Mac's with Windows?! that i'd consider.

:S :S over 50% of the worlds motherboards aka the inside of a desktop / laptop are manufactured by Asus.

Avoid Dell, don't be swayed by the devil.

Toshiba U300 (13.3" screen) or Acer travelmate (12" screen) would be my preference.

Probably looking at £700 - £800 inc VAT for a decent spec. Go Vista, don't be scared. Vista Biz will do, you wont neeed vista home premium unless you are using your PC / notebook as a media centre and using a TV Tuner.

Macbooks will run Vista, but only those with the Intel processors.

Sony is v. expensive. I have a little T2 and its been brilliant, but, I didn't have to pay for it. If it was my money, I would have looked at something else.
