I need a new laptop....found a few but can anyone better them?

I want 2GB memory, 120+GB HD. Wireless etc, just a decent basic laptop!

Top of the list is a Dell Inspiron 1525, £400. 2gb memory and 250gb HD.

Top limit is £400 that I want to spend.

Away you go ;)

Stick with either Dell or HP.

I've seen no end of cheap other branded laptops fail in the first year.

Currently got a Dell, lasted me 3 years and its served me well, but the battery and charger are shagged so need a new one!
Wouldnt mind another one, just seeing if anyone had any good deals.

Thank god for that.

I wouldn't touch Acer, Fujitsu or any of the own brand laptops with a 10 foot barge pole.

think dell are s**t, just a brand like ipods come with a load of crap you dont want. I have an asus, and its amazing for the price, never let me down

I bought a Dell Inspiron 1525 in the end, £400, 2gb memory, 250gb HD and the usual bits.

No VAT to pay is always a winner too :D

It's used as a computer for my dads business, so the VAT gets claimed back at the end of the tax year.

Wish I had spotted that, seems a very good price!
Mine is the same spec i think and it was £400, so seems a good buy.

^^ far from it, you have to check the processor specs ( caches etc) the stuff that matters the most.

it depends what your after in the laptop to which one you buy, my asus one I use for my degree and I need to dual boot xp and linux and it does the job superbly.
