what mileage for cambelt change

i no in the log book it says 40k but loads of peeps tell me its more like 60-70k and thats safe... whats the mileage on your first cam belt change or in genral what should i change it at, its currently booked in but ive got to go into my overdraft to pay and im a student and really shud w8

Should really be changed at 5 years or 72K.

Some people get them changed earlier just in case.

its 7 yr old at 45k i got it last month and i dnt think its been done how to check?

should be a recipt etc somwhere in your books, i got mine done at 6 years on 59k

well there is recipt and its not renault service its random garages but all reciptes are there ive asked the lady i got it from and she said she doesnt know anyting about it and all she did was pay,,, by the sounds of it (prices) she paid for a cambelt every year lol but i really dont no tbh jw if the car as it is now should have a change or leave it til i got some funds in a few month. any way to check the cond.. myself, will a garage do it 4 me free or close to free jsut to tell me if tis ever been done

you cant just check it yourself if there no evidence ie Written down get it done, as i thought mine was fine afterr taking it out i bent it and it was FULL of small cracks just waiting to give way.

I paid £260 for mine from a Renault dealer.

£250 but i doubt you will get any where close be prepared for about £300+ but just make sure its a good mechanic ( family friends no) also he or she has done it before as it can go wrong.

im only going to places that have the equip. and give a warrenty... im not prepared to be ripped, ive got some quoted so far and ive had a £250 a £220 and lol a £120 soo im gona go for the £220 i think
