What order? (cat bolts)

Can anyone advise me on what order I put the cat bolt arrangements on? I'm also having issues getting the spring/everything to fit on the bolt. I fitted a new metal ring to the end of the Mani and now everything a real squeeze!

Running ktec suspension - far from rich. I'm saving for these bad boys you're sorting :p

All though it's ironic I work for Renault so should probably have bought genuine lol.

Is the order mentioned in the link above right?

Been coverd loads of times Luke ;)

Its...

Metal cup(mani side) > metal cup >metal washer > spring> metal washer > metal cup > bolt.

^you've forgotten the fibre washer ;)

cup fits into the manifold, thats obvious how it fits, correct?

bolt goes through the manifold/cup, then its

fibre washer
spring
flat washer (if genuine kit used)
cap
nut

You dont have the Metal cup that goes into the manifold side, but just use the one thats allready there, they get rusty as fook but still does the job

TBH if yours are anything like mine, i was slightly confused (for about 2 seconds) the old cups had corroded "into" the manifold so it wasn't obvious that they came out.

In fact one of them was so stuck in i left it as it was

Luke your such a c**k.... It's the most simple job ever!! Especially with a new kit..

Not really - What i'd done is the same as rollo; But mine were so corroded I couldn't tell what the were, and I wasn't aware that they were even metal cups.

Bashed them out with a screwdriver in the end and all went on fine.

Quick on though - You know on the phone you told me to do the bolts up to the end of the thread? Well the springs were really compressed so they were no gaps between them and I was only about 2/3's of the way down the thread, so I stopped. Should I have carried on going or will it be ok?

sounds like the cups havn't fully seated in the manifold end. You need to bottom out the nuts on the thread or as the gasket wears the assembly will just be loose

So it does need to go to the end of the thread? It is seated properly as I pressed it in with mole grips and it's flush. I think I should have just kept screwing it on:eek:

Very informative thread - I'm replacing one of my bolts tonight as it seems that the metal cup on the old one has disintegrated and the screw is now loose. I've been getting an annoying rattle at 2000 rpm so I'm hoping this will fix it.
