What should I do?!

  Clio 200
Right, iv owned my 182 for just over 3 years now & seriously considering upgrading to a 200 in glacier white with cup pack, black speedlines, cup pack & uprated stereo. Done ALOT of ringing around for quotes etc. & have been offered a reasonable part ex price on the 182.

However, im not 100% sure what to do! Is anybody else considering a 200 or made the switch?

Few pics of the 182 as it stands. Wouldnt mind knowing what people think its worth & also any comments are welcome :D

Just remember to factor in that the 200's are thirstier in fuel, apart from that and the fugly front end they aint bad cars :star:

182 looks tip top!

Mk3's weather 197 or 200 are better all rounders, no doubt about it! Miss mine loads! Way more refined.

From what I've seen the 200 is unreal in the bends, great brakes, handaling, better seating position only down point is electric steering which some people say gives a lack of feel but overall on handaling it's heavilly, heavilly rated.

Build quality is also hugley better too, some people say more like a small Audi, can't see that but probably alot less rattles.

Down points are the fuel costs. Really f**king thirsty. If you look at how much you're spending on the capital cost and what sort of other cars you could consider for similar fuel costs there are a few in a bigger categories, R26 for one. However, the 200 is spanking and will have a warranty so guess you can hammer it like crazy.

Other disadvantages is the tuning potential. Don't think you can even decat the 200 as it makes it idle crap. So really, when you buy it, it's going to be as quick as it'll ever be give or take the engine loosening up. May make you think you want a car with more potential?

Being honest, I'd love a 200, just a shame they are 15k - as much as I want one, they are not twice as good as my Trophy and at the mo not worth the crappy fuel with my significant mileage.

Some other factors is the performance, some people coming from 182's still don't like them.

Try one is all I can say otherwise.

That 182 really does look mint and is refreshing to see a completely standard example should get good money for that even if part ex!

As for the 200, do it you only live once test drive one first though just to make sure it lives up to all the "hype"!

Thanks for the positive comments on my 182. The local stealers have a red 200 in so will be test driving on sat!

What ever you want, i just dont like white. And the colour range renault offer currently has some very nice and unique colours in it.

Personally i would have, 200, Alien Green with Black speedlines + cup spoiler + Recaros.

But i dont have the money :(

I tested a 200 on saturday - these are my thoughts (copied from another thread):

"Tested a 200 at the weekend. Really didn't want to like it but... Compared to my 182 it is, honest to god, about 1000% better. Much better build quality, almost german in feel. Useable rear seats, unlike the 182. A nice clutch, unlike the 182. An excellent gear box, short throw and positive, pleasure to use. The chassis is terrifc, there's bags of grip and plenty of power too. Not perhaps quite as much immediate response as the 182, and electric power steering means it doesn't have quite as much feeling, but as an overall package its a far, far better car than the 182. You can see that it was designed at a time when people had money to spend and to compete with the mini, which really moved the game on.

Overall, for what i need it for - one car for day to day use with 4 seats and to do half a dozen track days per year, it's a perfect car and I want one badly. Just got the missus to win round!

Can't really comment on the v6 as I've not driven one and need 4 seats anyway, but when a similar price can get a z4m, I don't think I'd ever consider buying one.

200 for me. In black, with black speedlines, recaros and the cup spoiler. Looks pretty good in the metal!"

I'd want the cup chassis too. My 182 is also (virtually) standard and low mileage and I hope to get 6k for it if I sell up. If you've got the money, go for it - the car is a massive step forward and I want one badly!

55 plate 182 with both cup packs in as good condition as that looks (if it has sensible miles) should fetch decent money... only downside may be the colour isn't one of the sought after ones to the Renault purists!

I've fallen for the 200 after having a good nose around one in a car park the other week... in White, Black Speedlines, Black Roof, Recaro's etc etc.

To me the performance side wouldn't bother me... I've doen the "silly powerful FWD s**t" and it's not for me... The 172 satisfies me so I can't see a 200 disappointing.

Everything for me is a winner and once I've paid off my loan i'll be seriously tempted and hopefully in a few months I could get a top spec'd 6 month old car...

Entirely your choice. But myself I'm happy with the 182, and I couldn't justify spending an extra 9k or so for a similar car. Yes its more refined, but 9ks worth?

If you like the front end and have deeper pockets (than you needed on the 182), then go for it! If not, keep the 182.

It seems to be a great car, performance wise. But so is the 182!

UPDATE: Test drove a red 200 on Saturday & fell in love.

The overall feel & quality of the car is fantastic. Build quality, power, looks, comfort & brakes are all outstanding & the amount of looks it received made it feel that even more special! Needless to say I placed my order & the above 182 is for sale. Will be very sorry to see it go but onwards & upwards!
