What Started it all - Products/Reasons (Noobs GTFO)

  Not a 320d
'Cause were all such clever, experienced pro detailers......

I was wondering how you started. Why you started. And what products you first used back in the day.

I just wanted to make my car look shiny. Had some of my dad's SRP lying about and decided to try just my bonnet instead of committing myself the the full car in case I hated it. Following that, trip to Halfords saw me buy Megs NXT Shampoo and a MF Noodle mitt. First wax was Dodo purple haze. Spiraled from there over the last 7 or so years really.

I wish I could go back and tell myself not to bother.

I bought a 1.2 Red Clio and joined CS.net. I blame you all.

Bought my 182 and wanted it look nice, Quick trip to Halfords and bought Megs Nxt Gen Shampoo, Megs Spray Wax and some SRP.

Then onto Megs Clay Kit, ITR and EGP.

Stepped away from Halfords and bought some R222's and then started to get a little hooked.... My stash is still small and cheap compared to most.

Order from AF has been my last big spend.

  A special one.
Scrooge, Dave, JD and Gally...

I do like making my car look good though and learning about products.

Its started with SRP and EGP

Then I came in this sub section and got caught up with the likes of JD, Kev, Rich and Russ and it started to go downhill

Then discovered that DDJ were 10minutes up the road, then AF opposite.

Being in the Bshop industry it was always an interest. Infact my first Clio was Pearl Black and it was polished a lot and megs Gold Class wax used, that's sorta when it started. Loooong time ago! Basic then moved on to Srp etc.

So I wash actually machine polishing as an apprentice before I even knew about detailing and products.

Looking at the reflection of the Garage door in Rich Treens BG 182, always wanted my car to be that shiny!

I still have those pictures on my comp. Legend. Clean 182 there has ever been.

My old RB as it looked so good once it had a good going over. Having a nice car helps as i dont seem as interested in it anymore.

I had the help of the CS detailing crew for my products so B2BM, Bilberry, Blackfire GEP, AFPP, Werkstat etc.

My old neighbour cleaning his, minehadnto be cleaner.

Then Rich Treen set me off, JD didn't help, now Gally is the t**t.

when i bought my 1.2 clio, i didnt even know what detailing was. I popped into halfords (i see a theme going here haha), got a few bottles of auto glym and meguirs stuff, its all gone down hill from there really and countless hours and money. halfords 3 for 2 hasnt really helped much either and have to refrain from go near the place.

I started off with SRP, got a free pot of HD wax on launch from Pistonheads, started reading DW. The rest is history..

  Whichever has fuel
My dad letting me wash the wheels of his mk4 cortina estate, then his Orion 1600i abd then I moved on to cleaning it for him because I was better at it. I'd spend all day Saturday and Sunday doing it, rather than playing with mates etc. was proper obsessed.

Then I got a job as a valeter and the rest is history.

Similar story to Daniel. Dad teaching me the "top down" method with. Turtle wax and a bucket, sponge and chamois. Then doing next doors' for a few £, then my own at 17 with the clio -> CS -> Rich.

**makes loving look**

I miss Rich. The amount of frustrating PMs I sent him. "Does QD stand for 'Quick Drying' solution?

Ahh. Good days. I miss Brazo and a few others as well.

I've just suddenly remembered my first rotary experience. Big tub of G3 and silverline pads. There was foam and dried compound everywhere lol

I remember my first flat line. Mum used a scouring pad on the Escort estate bonnet to get some paint that SOMEONE flecked onto it while painting his (or her) bike... I corrected it by hand with multiple hits of SRP!!
