What the How has this happened

Hey guys. i was washing my clio valver last night when i noticed somethin on the front drivers rim

on the inside of the rim (behind the spokes - so to say) there is a big groove aboout 2mill deep, 3mill wide and half a rim long!! at one end of the groove is a big patch where it looks like its grooved out!

ive noticed a bit of knocking from that side for a while could this be related?

or could the person who changed my tyre on that wheel a few weeks ago have done it?

anyone had anything like this before?

cheers in advance

As much as I hate to say but Yes!! The last dude to change my tyre forgot to take off the rim balancing weights and did similar damage!!!!

but how could that have happened. the groove looks like summat has touched the metal and digging in ie making the groove when the rim was spinning round

if the mark is behind the spokes it would be very doubtful the tyre fitter could have done it unless the mark is right near the edge of the inside of the wheel which could have been caused by the tyre machine clamping jaws slipping on the rim. got any pics?

mate this happened to me the other day, my brake caliper came unbolted and was bounching around smashing into my rim still held on, do you get sa metal on metal noise when on speed bumps, worth a check..... it complety shattered the weight on the wheel
