What the normal temperature gauge position in 172 ?

The temperature gauge in my 2002 172FF sits at half way on the scale when the cars warmed up (after about 10-15 minutes from start up-maybe longer in colder weather)

Is this normal ?

And is it ok to give my car s**t with it in that position ?

Would it really be properly warmed up ?

Or would i be better to fit my sandwich plate and oil temperature gauge to get a true engine temperature reading ?

Or is the coolant temperature sufficient ?

mine sits in the middle too, what is the optimum water temperature for F4R. By default radiator fan comes in at 99C. Henk tweaked the map for me and get it set at 95 C.

Does anyone have any ideas what the oil temp would be when the 172's water temperature gauge is half way ?

Is it correct that oil temp tends to lag behind water temp in terms of heating up ? So when your water temp hits the middle mark your oil temp is still likely to be a way off where it ought to be ?

Mine always hits the middle mark well under 10 minutes taking it steady.

will be a bit low still

IIRC the thermostat opens at around 85degC (thats when the temp gauge goes to halfway)

i would say at least 20min before giving it the beans

Bit of a bummer when it only takes me 25 minutes to get to work! I guess i;m okay to raz it round the car park then :p
