I just bought a 52 plate on 40k, mint condition, belts done, just serviced, 11 months MOT, 3 months Tax, £3,850.

Dangerous Daves looks a steal for the price and what you are getting but it depends if that's the route you plan to take, I was seriously considering yours Dave but I let it go due to the distance.

Got mine in Jan, cost me £3700 but It hadnt had belts done.

It had FSH, 66k on the clock dec 03 registered

had a load of interest in mine at £4k, done 70k and belts/depasher/72k service done plus reasonable mods. thinking i'm keeping it now though

Good choice - I sold my 106 gti 2 months ago and bought a 172 cup - you won't look back mate :)

Basically the 172 non cups you can grab quite cheaply - but for a cup you're looking £3k upwards

and for £3k it'll be quite high mileage and not the best of the bunch
Try to budget £3500-£4k for a good one and you can't go wrong
Make sure you get one with cambelts done as they're costly

Mine cost me £2800 but has done 96k - but it's a very late 53 plate with a folder full of services so I didn't mind too much, and it flew through the MOT with no problems at all

Dont let it not having had the belts done put you off. I used it to get some money off mine and had them done over at NW Performance for £300
