What to replace when changing engine

  172
Hi I am in the middle of sourcing a new engine for my Clio 172, its a 2003 car. What should I look to change while the engine is out? Clutch is fine...and what are the best parts(brands). Sorry for the questions, just want no regrets once the engine is in.

Many Thanks

depends what you're doing with the car mate. If it was track orientated then you could to loads to it. Road wise, maybe change all the rubbers on the ARB/wishbones/subframe. Clean up the bay. Wrap the manifold, get the inlets ported, remove the AC. etc. Loads of things, but depends what you're after. If the belts haven't been done, getting them done before putting it back in would be a good idea, maybe the water pump also.

Cambelt kit. Aux belt kit, maybe waterpump as the engine is unknown, although they're not a weakpoint. Thermostat. check all the PAS lines round the rack for leaks as they're very hard to get to once the engine is in.

Sweet! Thanks guys! Like the sound of changing all the rubbers, is there a kit I can just buy? Also which belt/aux kit should I go for? Is there a specific brand?

Many Thanks, picking up an engine Sunday :)

Cut away some of the plastic from the radiator fan housing while it's out of the engine. They warp due to heat and eventually cause a leak from the radiator. Take a look and it should be obvious which area should be cut away. I'd be tempted to just replace as much as possible - especially the black carpet heatshield fitted to the bulkhead, there must be something better. Do a test on the loom making sure there are no shorts (I think there's a better TDC sensor and cable available so I'd be tempted to replace that).
