What wears away when using a 197 wheel in a ph2

Wheel apparently does to self centre when it's freshly installed but it does after it wears.

what exactly is it that wears, the steering wheel or the cowling as I'd like to sand the hell out of it before putting this new wheel on

also heard of using a washer but the size needed isn't anywhere

I looked at those and even posted in 1 of them previously but none of them answer the above. Wanted to sand the cowling away because it will drive my sparco on a 2 mile commute each day not self centring!

how long does the cowl take to wear away otherwise as I might hold off until I'm doing moon mileage again

Not to worry lads. Found the v6 post on a French clio forum. It's an m20 with the external turned down a little.
