If it's on finance can you carry out an engine change?? What happens if you default on a payment or don't want it at the end of the finance term?

Is it worth plowing money into something that isn't technically yours until you've made the last/balloon payment?

Engine transplants are usually not worth the agro. Unless youve got the engine knocking about with a wiring loom and ecu and your willing to do it yourself then dont bother.

If you do it, you'll spend thousands devaluing your car.

If you want a faster car, buy a faster car.

MOFO, can i refer you to in your thread in general chat that you started, about getting a second job because you were in massive debt + could lose your house etc You have a kid, sort your head out, do you start these posts just because you are bored? yesterday you were thinking of buying danlph motor or a good cond valver.

This also isnt a technical question.

imo id put the interior back in ya 1.2 and wait till you can afford a faster car. when i had my 1.2 i wanted to do loads to it but i knew it would of been a waste as i knew assoon as i could afford it id have a better car.
and if you are in debt ect id flog it and get a cheaper car and sort ya finaces before anything else.

engine conversions are only worth it if your doing every last bit of work yourself so you have no labour costs.

valver engine is a silly idea for a mk2 to be honest, why put a 10-15yr old engine in a car thats only a couple of years old? id go for a 1.6 16v clio engine or if you fancy being different a 1.8 16v/2.0 16v megane/laguna engine.

your going to pay k-tec £3,000 to put a 172 engine in your car, thats nuts. do it yourself for £1500 or buy a 172, thats the only 2 options id consider tbh

i never said i would loose my house fella, and i also said finances aretight but not so bad they were gonna have to live on the street or nowt, also said the reasin for the 2nd job was so we could do stuff on weekend ect and not have to go without stuff, and yes i was intrested in the 172 or valver but on closer inspection both are going very cheap for a readson,

yea i know but i dont have a clue how to do it/

I agree with Martin, conversions only make sense if you have the know how to do it yourself. Otherwise it is a case of more money than sense.

Can your finance company not arrange it to be transferred to another car?

If i remember rightly your bought your Clio fairly recently, so it's probably worth the same as an older 172 anyway.

TBH i totally agree with what GavFre is saying though! More to life than cars.

  Mk2 Ph1 1.2
do the colour coding, coilovers, buckets and fiew tiny engine mods and then just wait for a better car for the performance

yea i guess, may put it up for sale i guess, will try on here first lol, how much you wreck its worth? 51 2002 plate, 35k miles, full sh, 1.2 16v dynamique,

Agree with GavFre, as I was going to say the same thing. You are working all of the hours god sends doing two jobs and getting little sleep because funds were meant to be so tight, and here you are on about putting a valver engine in to a 1.2 shell? It was a 205 gti engine in another thread I read earlier.

I think you need to get your priorities sorted! As working all of the hours under the sun seems pointless if you are just going to waste the money on an engine conversion like the above. I had sympathy for you when I thought it was cos you were in so much debt and you were just trying to provide for the mrs and the baby.

Lets be honest here, your opinion doesn't count, I mean look at your choice of car.

Still hate you ;)

thsat is why i work all the hours under the sun, we could live of just one income but we would be tight and not be able to do things ie go out or buy things, i want to clear some debts and be able to have nice things and not have to worry about this and that getting paid,
