What's a decent internet download limit?

  172 Ph1/Scooby MY00
I'm currently with AOL and have unlimited download limits apparently (I don't know much about all this, it's all voodoo to me!). I am thinking about getting Sky TV with the telephone and broadband package, but the broadband is limited to 2GB or 40GB depending on the option I pick. My kids download music and watch stupid videos like Southpark, that sums up what we do on the internet I think. So will 2GB or 40 GB be enough do you think?

Any help greatly appreciated as I know nothing about this stuff.

depends how tight they are with the 2gb, if thats the limit or not if you get me, ive always had 2gb with freeserve>wanadoo>orange and have never been told to limit my downloading and i do it alot lol

maybe go for the 2gb then if you need more upgrade?

If your kids download music and videos your gonna need a higher bandwidth than 2gb which could be used in a couple days quite easily on a fast connection.

AN episode of south park will need around 175mb to download now if there doing it via torrents which most people do double that up due to seeding. So 1 episode of south park has used 1/6th of your monthly bandwidth. Mix in some music and web browsing and other general downloads and 2gb disappears very quickly.

I prefer unlimited download limits as im a bit of a power user. Require lots of bandwidth for my uses but most people should get by fine on 40gb of bandwidth a month.

I tend to doenload UFC and Pride fights that are usually around 1.5 gb a pop but mine is unlimited on BT anyhow

Personally I couldn't live with any cap at all. I think it destroys the whole concept of how we were all sold broadband in the first place.

Couldnt recomment telewest or virgin media as they are now called enough.. 10mbit (20mbit in may) and unlimited downloads...

I would class myself as a heavy downloader !! as much as 20GB per day i would reckon :D

Ive downloaded approx 20gb in the last week and thats only because I havent been on my pc much, normally id be downloading a few gb a day (5/6)... together with the fact we have 3 computers and a laptop in our house... it really can pile up.

Im on virgin media / ntl ive had months where ive downloaded about 150gb-200gb and heard nothing from them ... so i guess its unlimited lol.

What is the point in giving you a 10,00000 gbit line if you can only download 100KB/month.. download caps are crazy !! its like here have this super dooper high speed line, but dont use it much or we will get angry.

Its like selling cars that can do 200mph but you can only drive them at 70mph..

oh wait ..
