What's an instructor worth around a track?

"Is an instruction session worth it?" - is an often asked question.

This guy was worth s***-loads.

Click

He responded to areas where I was weak, and communicated well :approve:

Interesting how you can see what he means the minute you don't quite do it 'right'. The way he's intstructing as you get to each corner, would that be more valuable at other tracks as well, or is it mostly going to benefit Bedord?

Interested - what camera do you use for in-car videoing?

I use a Sony DCR-HC18E - nothing special but has good image stabilisation and will film anamorphic for true 16:9 widescreen - mounted on one of these headrest mounts... http://www.b-hague.co.uk/Mounting Brackets.htm

How much was it Mark?

The session in this clip was 'free' - it was part of an experience day (autotesting, wet handling, Jaguar JP1 drive and ride), but normally £30 gets you 15-20 mins.

Well worth it - what does £30 get you as a power/handling upgrade?

...would that be more valuable at other tracks as well, or is it mostly going to benefit Bedord?

Advice from this guy is obviously mostly applicable to Bedford, but he focussed me on things I could do to improve across the board and not just to benefit corners of the West Circuit.

As said above, driver training and/or track instruction is the best value most effective way to improve your car's performance.

proper instruction is THE best mod you can do. period.

Very true. Whats that saying? "All the gear, no idea"?

I'd rather be fast due to a good technique and linking everyhring together compared to monstering the straights and being completely shoite in the bends.

That looks great, interesting how much he points out even to someone as quick as you.

You'll have to passenger with me one day Mark
