Whats better ? Uk 172's or Imports ?

Sorry guys, here goes another import thread.

My Iceberg Silver 2002 172FF has turned out to be an import as well and has no locking nuts, etchings, stickers etc.(I found that out not long after i got it)

What is a better car to have ?

A uk 172 ?

Or an imported one ?

And where do you's guys think my car is imported from ?

As i had no documentation saying where it was from when i bought it :S

And are there any more differences apart from the ones i mentioned above ?

No alarm fitted as standard , on entry to the UK , no lokcing wheel nuts and ecthed windows as you've stated . Other than that it's exactly the same car mate .

In my opnion imports are better . I'm on my second import and saved a few grand on each car when i bought them new . They are the same car , built in the same factory on the same production line ffs ;)

+1

Get a grip. They're the same car. Put locknuts on and fit a Clifford. 90% fit an aftermarket alarm anyway.

All made in the same place. And then sorced out to each country. The highlight is that other countries pay way less than we do so can afford an import market.

Rip off britain anyone

Ok cheers guys.

I have just looked in my handbook pack and i have some booklets from france and some from netherlands

IMO a UK one is worth more.

I would buy an import one if it had all the UK stuff, but I would want to pay less, it was less new after all.

Alarms on standard cars are shite anyway so having an import to me would be an advantage as its one less thing to rip off.

UK all the way, and you sure 90% change their alarm?! :S

I personally wouldnt touch an import.

Just wouldnt. If there were x2 identical cars next to each other, one UK and one import, i'd take the UK everytime. Imports can be harder to sell on also

99% of people wouldn't bother checking/ know what they are looking for when you come to sell it. ClioSport represents a very small proportion of RS Clio owners in the large scheme of things.

Pinky was an import, Cyprus iirc. Was better equiped than the uk cars when i sold it. Only addition was the cobra alarm,

  182 ff
haha imports are exactly the same and straight off the lorry not sitting in a car dep for about 8 months like normal uk cars lol

Umm mine did Ali.... A lot of the imports at motorpoint never came with the multichangers. It was moved to the options list when Cruise control was fitted on the later 172's.

Imports are generally worth about £500-£1000 less than a UK car.

Not mine! ;)

All depends on price imo, if an import was 2k less and the car was identical, frsh on time , mint etc etc.

I would buy the import.

doesnt state import or not in service book and that, but it'll be in french. Mine did come with an alarm but had it replaced with a better one and did come with the cd changer. I have everything a uk one has. No difference in speed or anything.

maybe unlucky people are missing features

Don't know.

Where would it say that ?

i don't where, (not got it to hand) but iirc it says on the log book if its a UK car.

ive noticed a few things different on mine than to others but it says UK CAR on my log book.

Where does it say UK car on your log book ? It doesn't mention any country on mine and it didn't on my 172's log book ?

What things are different on yours to others ??

Afaik , the only way to tell if its UK or imported is by the VIN number . My insurance company knew my 172 was an import just by the VIN number . I don't know what's different about it , but there must be .

I should have said only when selling to people that don't know their arsehole from their earhole.

Same car, same mileage, same condition UK car is worth more. Whether people realise this or not is another matter entirely.

I'm interested to know why it's worth more ? I mean my 182 has Renault locking wheel nuts same as UK cars , but mine as a better alarm than Renault fit . It has a lifetime warranty whereas the Renault alarms only have an 18 month warranty , and they do go wrong from some posts i've read

So thats the only difference in mine and a so called " UK " car . Personally if i was buying one second hand " Same car, same mileage, same condition " i'd buy mine ;)

Are the Clio Cups built in a different place/factory to the Clio FF's ?

I thought they'd all be built in same place :S

i was under the impression they were all made at dieppe.
just wondering why they make Right hand drive cars for france.
dont make sence to me.

They are made in Dieppe . Don't forget , other countries that have Clios drive on the right like us . Cyprus , Australia .... Obviously UK car importers source cars that are manufactured with these countries in mind and buy them before they are shipped over there .
