What's my number?

Right, what a pain this is. Want to replace a tyre on my car [ currently a conti premium contact] with the same. Now then, phoned up the local garage and he says he needs a number that is on the tyre for the size, even though he has the large numbers eg 185/55 15, which is all i thought they needed. Can someone help me cos i aint got a clue what to look for. How many digits is it?

All they should need is 185/55R15, the only other thing I can think of is the speed rating - i.e. W.

Hi mate, nope gave them that cos i thought the same,said it is to do with measurements!
