What's the deal with seat belts?

  Clio 172 Replica
My brother has just bought a 182 and wants to put a set of buckets in. What are the laws/rules on the harneses. If anyone has had some beforre or could shed some light that would be great!

Mot wise they are fine as long as they are ankered properly and securely and they fasten up !

Not entirely. You should have a normal seatbelt buckle style rather than the twist buckle to pass an mot but I've never heard of it being enforced.

I think it is getting more strict this year on MOT's that they need to be E approved, aircraft style buckles are just FIA approved and not legal for road use, don't know how rally cars get around this as they are road legal but need FIA approved harness??

I will get some pics of the car up, probably tomorrow, its a white 182 ex track car with every mod under the sun done too it but great fun. It has one of the strut bars in the boot... could the harnessese attached to that?

if it had a cage and a bar welded to the cage use that but if it is just a strut brace no just get some eyebolts and use the rear seat belt fixings.
Just out of curiosity did he get it from Dudley?
