whats the quickest way to transfer files from 1 pc to the other?

To be honest the fastest way would be either:

1. Burn cds (650mb)
2. Burn DVDS (4.5gb)
3. Removable hard drive.

Unless your pcs are already networked, dont bother.

i cant be arsed burnin it all to dvd, my writer on my laptop is only 1x, they are networked wireless but its slow as a week in the jail doin it that way, thought it might be quicker with a wired connection...

WIreless you should get 5mb/sec if they are next to each other.

Even wired wont get you more than 10mb/sec

If you're going to use ethernet mate without a hub/router or switch rather than just a normal cat5 cable you'll need a twisted pair cable, basically (i think) wired the opposite way at each end, a standard cable wont work.

If your linking via cables just get x-over cable all you need like £10 for 15 metres its the cheapest and quickest way.

Unless you take the hard drive out using external hard drives is no faster than ethernet really as the USB bus isnt that fast.

lol

So a hardwired 100/1000 connection is only twice as fast as wifi ?

LOL! Just what I was going to say. You can get 4GB sticks for under £60 these days. On a USB2 connection - it shouldn't take that long to transfer files at all.

Really handy devices - we use them a lot at work.
