Could it be the headlight adjuster like someone else has just posted? Sounds like an electric motor to me. What car is it?

yeah think i know what it is now. . .at the time it sounded like it was coming from underneath, i just got out the car and heard it, though wtf :S so yeah i was looking to see where it was coming from. . . (n4p camera man)
