Whats this part? on 172 Cup

A black rectangular box that is behind the nearside headlight and hangs down into the the front bumper. Connected to it are a couple of tubes and wires.

Must be a carbon cannister, it's also a charcoal filter is it not? Same thing.
 
Sorry you're right It's the offside. What does the Carbon canister do?

Something to do with bullshit EU regs, I think it cleans the fuel vapours or something like that. You don't need it, I was going to have a go at removing mine today but I've bottled it!
 
Let me know how you get on, I took my acoustic valve and carbon canister out and my engine management light is on now.

Any other 182 owners had this issue?

Not with acoustic removal mate no. Might be the canister
 
Well me a Burp plugged in his RACvan laptop to read the fault codes. It returned a code each for the acoustic valve and the carbon canister, probably because they are no longer plugged in!

Just wondered if anyone else had this light on after removing the CC.

Sorry if this sounds like i'm taking the piss but have you blocked off all the pipes that have been pulled off?

As Fred says Join the Carbon canister tubes together. The acoustic valve thing I don't know about yet.
