Whats wrong with my car

Please help!! Went away for 6 weeks, came back started the car and didnt work, managed to bump start it and drove a couple of miles, stopped to get petrol and then when restarted it started and the died after a few seconds. it hasnt worked since. recharge the battery last night and managed to start the car but again kept dying out. Do you think this is the immobilisor or battery or anything else? The car is a Renault Clio MTV 1.2.

Alternator or dead battery, more likely the latter of the two.

Once its running is it fine or does it cut out?

Sometimes the battery is past it and wont charge properly getting a new one should help but i cant confirm.

battery. charge and go for a long drive before stopping the car to allow sufficient time to recharge

I turn the ignition, the engine starts up and then it cuts out. Do you think this could be the immobilisor?

dont think the engine would start at all if it was the immobilisor wud it?



does the cutting out happen randomly or just wen u start the car?



if ur charging the batery, drive 4 bout an hr or sumthin wivout turnin the car off, make sure u turn your sterio off n unplug your amp etc if u have 1

Do you get a battery warning light on the dash appearing, then disappearing if you blip the accelerator, only to reappear at idle?

If so - its defo the alternator - it cant put any juice back into the battery. I had two replaced on my previous car. Check the battery with an independant garage first as its much cheaper to replace than an alternator.
