Whats wrong with my clio?

  ?
4 people in my clio... Joining the m25 having just come off the m4 my car suddenly slows down like someone is putting the handbrake/brakes on... put my foot down ... nothing... change down to 4th... nothing... it wouldnt rev past about 2500ish, so i pulled over immediately!

Checked dash no lights etc. Hmm, revved it up to about 4000/5000 a few times, popped it in first then drove the rest of the journey fine (even at 75-80mph).

What happened? is it anything to worry about?! If it helps... my car has been tempremental starting up recently ... sometimes taking a few attempts before it finally starts.

Your car sounds like it droped into get you home safe mode for some reason.

Could be any number of things maybe TDC sensor from the starting problem.

  ?
Sorry, can you explain what this safe mode is? and would anything have lit up on the dash?

Also, what is the TDC sensor?

(sorry i dont know much)

Is it something i should get looked at asap?

yep as edde has said , the limp mode has been activated , the ecu has detected a fault and limits your driveability . What the problem will have to be checked out .

  ?
But it stopped as soon as i pulled over and clutched and revved up normally again, then didnt happen again for the rest of the hour journey?

French wiring eough said realy

TDC is the top dead center sensor get a garage to check it also known as crack shaft sensor. The ECU uses it to know there the piston is they fail a lot the new replacment one £50 with the extra wiring looms etc and its much better.

I think ill carry on driving it normally, if it gets worse / happens again ill get it check out? sound ok?
