Wheel alignment issue 200

  Golf 7.5R & Clio 200
Hi,

Been meaning to post this for a while now. I got my tracking done a month or so ago, and was told it was all over the place.

All been corrected, however my passenger side rear wheel, is permanently pointing towards the curb slightly.

They said there is nothing they can do as its not adjustable, but this may cause un-even tyre wear/bad fuel economy.

Sure it wont be crippling to live with, however I do get the feeling I'm being dragged into the curb at times.

They recommended I see Renault. I phoned them that day, and they said no problems, bring it in and we'll have a look. Lucky O asked as they would have charged me £95 to diagnose the issue!

Anyone experienced this at all? Has a previous owner just lumped the curb at some point?

I would guess that it could be a wheel bearing, bush or something is bent. Take it somewhere else - maybe one that does a free alignment check that also does servicing. Jack the car up and see if there is any play in the wheel.

Did the place that original done the tracking give you a print out of your geo?

Sounds to me like the rear beam is bent.

have you done any handbrake turns into a curb? Y0

Yeah they did, its in my glove box at the mo I think. And no, I havent. Does make me wonder if a previous owner smacked the curb. I know the wheels were all refurbed before I bought it.

Is the wheel is that obvious that its out of line the print out should show it.

Then if you inspect the car and can't see anything obvious wrong, chances are the beams slightly bent. You could get some shims to correct it.

As far as I'm aware if the car is still in warranty Renault will cover the labour to investigate the issue. If it's wear & tear tho expect a bill for the parts.

Agreed, if its under warranty still I'd imagine your Renault dealer won't have a problem looking at in, but if they diagnose it as a bent beam they might refuse to do it under warranty as they can just say you've had a knock and that's not renaults fault.
