Wheel Balancing

Hi Chaps

Just about to take my 172 back for the 4th time to have the wheel balancing redone after having two new front tyres fitted. Anyone experienced this, the car was fine before but kwik-fit just can't seem to do it. Anyone have any advice that I could pass on?

Try another garage that does tyres.

As tom said try a different place, try a smaller outfit as well.

Yeah if they're on the 4th try, they are either completely useless or the balancing machine they are using is way out of calibration.

nah, 3 Kwik-Fits and 4 balances and still no good. Last lot said I had a slightly buckled wheel, changed with the spare and still out of balance!! They also told me that the machines weren't accurate after 70mph!! Surely I can't have two buckled wheels!!

I very much doubt it what if you put the back on the front and the front to the back the vibration should change then. (i think) Unless you have some kind of play and a mount, driveshaft or bearing.

Just seems a bit of a coincidence that it should vibrate after having the new tyres fitted, definately wasn't doing it before. I'll take it somewhere else tomorrow. Dont really want to swap them around as I've cheaper GT Champiros on the back. Perhaps if I get all the wheels balanced I'll have a better chance. It's the classic 'Balancing vibrate' at 30 and just before 80. Had the same thing on my Celica once, took it somewhere else and sorted.

yea i know what you mean mate, i had that on my old car at one point balanced them and mate so much difference. i would try somewhere else tomorro mate. if you dont get any joy drop me a PM and ill get them dont over in Renault Minute
