WHEEL BEARING

drove the car to devon last week.and noticed after about 50..60..miles or so in to the journey i started to here a whiring noise. comeing from the front left hand side.and its now getting louder.could this be the wheel bearing? and if so .is it some thing i can fix my self.......ps what are the symtons of worn out wheel bearings......thx

Wheel bearing for sure!! Can do it yourself.. pretty straight forward I think.

However I have never done one so cant actually tell you exactly whats involved.

Does the noise get louder when going round a right hand corner (if its the left that youre hearing the noise from)? If so, then its gotta be the bearing - heard it too many times myself on Clios.

wheel bearing piece of piss... well long as youve got the right tools. think the haynes gives u a few good alternatives e.g. vice + Large sockets etc

Ive gone through 3 out of 4 bearings in the past 2 years. my problem is now, ive had 1 front and 1 rear literally go within 1 month and now i keep thinking the last one not to be done is to go any min, i keep hearing things

too much green i think

NO its the same on the straight as it is going round corners..its a" bloody " annoying noise.. tho..:)..is it a job i can do my self ? or a garage job.if so any idears on the price..thx guys

the 3 out of 4 bearings ive had to replace ive done 2, once i had todo a 500mile round trip urgently following day and it got to the point where didnt wanna risk it (couldnt get back home home, to fix it in dads garage.)

Sooooo Local garage charged £43 Labour inc VAT, i bought the part myself (got ripped off from a renault specilist) £35 Inc VAT (but u could be able to pick them up from GSF parts for £19 ex VAT if you have one handy)

check the haynes manaul, see if you feel confident with the job!

Just be glad you dont have an mk1 clio, first wheel bearing that went in mine had to be heated with a welder to get it out...

Next time just replaced the hubs, it was easier!

Oh and jus to be 110% its your wheel bearing, when its making the noise steer right, that would take the pressure off your left wheel so if the noise then stops you know its your left bearing!
