Wheel Cleaners

  Not a 320d
Hope people find this of use, and I hope JD and Gally, The jew and others comment on this and add in their opinons to help others out. Seems to be a very common question. I hope I dont get flamed for this.

Ill only add opinons on the cleaners Ive personally used. I either use very powerful wheel cleaners or diluted shampoo.

Brushes
Get on your knees, apply products and aggitate with a brush. Find some decent brushes for cleaning wheels below.

Espuma Revolution
Very strong, non acidic wheel cleaner. Great for removing brake dust. Makes very short work of stubborn yellow brake dust. Normal working ratio is 10:1, can be used neat. Not great for wheels with protection applied.

ValetPro Bilberry Wheel Cleaner
Non acidic wheel cleaner. Will remove brake dust, and apparantly gets rid of more stubborn yellow baked on dust although I cant say ive had much luck with it. Should be ideal when diluted for protected wheels.

-Personally, I dont think this is a great wheel cleaner, but others rate it highly. Only time Id use it would be on protected wheels, but then Id just use shampoo.

Car Plan Wonder Wheels
Okay, so this is basically brick acid. Acidic based wheel cleaner. Not reccomended for regular use. However, it will make short work of stubborn brake dust and is in reach for people who need something ASAP. Id invest in Espuma instead.

Various Sizes Available in Halfords and many other retail stores.

Chemical Guys Diablo Gel

Supposedly working ratio is 1:6. I used a full bottle of this and didnt really rate it. Wasnt very powerful. Needed really good aggitation with a brush to get the dust off. Supposedly good for protected wheels. Guess its not bad for the price.

Wee contribution.

Autosmart G101
Trade product. Much like Megs APC. Dilution dependant of application. 10:1 for interior, 4:1 for wheels.
£12 per gallon.

Megs Wheel Brightener

Much like Wonder Wheels in terms of heavy use. Dilution dependant of application. 4:1 for wheels. Not for use on polished or Alu finished wheels.
£23.95 per gallon.

I4D Bright Wheels

Good product that is basic and "bulk buy". Cleans wheels up well and can be diluted as required. 4:1 for wheels worked best for me.
£13.25 per gallon.

R222 Wheel Gel

Excepetional product for those with decent condition wheels. Cleans wheels up well and comes pre diluted to the correct strengths

G101 is such a wonder product.

I still use Autobrite Brite gel, nothing non-acidic brought my wheels up as clean as that stuff did.

After they're sealed with some fancy JD sperm i'll just use shampoo or a very weak BG solution.

Polished Bliss sell a wheel brush for the back of the wheels, looks like a loo brush! It's fcuking shite! I reckon they bought 10000 and have to sell them off hence them plugging them alot! Honestly they are rubbish! (Cheap tho)

I got a microfibre one from Santa (Think it was from Carwashnwax) It's great for wheels with big open spokes and cars with rear drums!...Not much reach mind.

The mini one isn't deep enough for my wheels. I found out £12 later.

It looks quite short Ali. Ie wouldn't reach the back of the spokes.

You can't get into the back of mine there is no gap between the spokes, so I use a longer brush.

It'd be good if they could all be formatted the same and then stickied at the top of the detailing section.

Must be annoying for the same people to be answering the same question with the same replies all the time.

Is that Very Cherry stuff not a flip of the acidic wheel cleaners though, a lot of cleaners say they are not acidic but are heavily alkaline e.g. pH 11-13

I think it is quite Alkali, like Bilberry, hence why they are marketed as non acidic rather than PH neutral.
