wheel protection

i have some silver oz's that have very recently been refurbed. before i put tyres on and use them id like to make sure the paint stays at its best for as long as possible and allows them to be easily cleaned and still be shiney after a few weeks use.

what should i be looking at? bit of a noob when it comes to detailing but i know a few basics so if you could explain best you could what i need and what sort of pros and cons come with it then id be very gratefull

cheers

Gteqniq c5 .. or just some rimwax/poor boys wheel sealant.

Cyc or i4d will sort you out.

how long do these last? i.e how frequently will i have to apply it?

Have a quick glance through this.

General opinion is Fk1000p or C5.

Personally I have only used PB wheel sealant which seems great to me.

cheers ill take a look through that now

C5 will last ages, should only need shampoo to clean as well.. Others will last a couple of months at best.

Be sure to get rid of any grease before applying to ensure maximum lifespan.

im tempted with that c5 tbh. should just be able to apply it to newly refurbed wheels no?

You wouldn't need to decontaminate or anything I don't think but id give them a quick hand polish then a wipe down with IPA..

C5 will outlast most if not all wheel sealants IMO. If they are freshly refusrbished and are kept clean / inside the house etc give them an IPA wipedown and you should be fine. I have it on my front wheels but yet to do the rears for being too lazy due to all the prep on used wheels

c5 is out of stock on their site :(

how much will i need to do 4 wheels? and maybe some hubs and shocks (as i read in the other thread its good for that too?)

so if i get the big bottle i should have enough to do the 16's front and back and have some left over for other bits and bobs?

id think so, i suppose if you had loads left over then you'd be able to sell it on pretty quick.

If you use a full bottle to do a set of any wheels you are seriously doing something wrong.

Gtechniq products go so far when used correctly.

can you tell me how to use them properly then?

website basically says wax on wax off...

Wait on it. Ask Gtechniq for instructions. Prep is key with grechniq.

use the make up pad, put on top of bottle, tip it upside down then back, wipe on planned area, carry out same procedure if pad becomes dry. do not leave more than a few minutes before VERY lightly wiping down with a new MF cloth. this may mean do small areas at a time and going back to it.

I've used half a 15ml bottle (7.5ml) to do inside and outside of 2x 17" wheels and I over applied the product. as said, you're doing something seriously wrong if you need a big bottle to do 4 wheels. But as said, this is all a waste of time unless they are spotlessly clean

Thanks for that. The wheels are freshly refurbed so they are spotless, wouldn't take a lot of prepping.

As I just said tho its out of stock everywhere atm.

Everywhere I've looked is out if stock so you will have to wait unless you find someone selling some that's unneeded.

Buy some nanolex stuff from polished bliss if you're desperate.

what's there stuff like Kev? I've seen i4d now stock the full range but no nothing about it or read any real reviews

Wolfs rim shield seems to get compared to C5

Ive heard an seen not so good reviews on the nanolex stuff, was told by a friend that he has to apply it once a month and he dont approve of it...
