Wheel repairs - Any good?

Hello!

I kerbed one of my wheels yesterday night :'( stupid mistake but hey ho. It's only minor kerbing and doesn't warrant a full refurb. I've had a decent quote to get it fixed, however I'm curious as to how they will go about doing it? Will they just use filler and spray over it? Is it really obvious it's been repaired or can you barely tell?

I'm trying to weigh up buying a brand new wheel vs getting this one fixed (new wheel is about £80 more than the repair). The reason I don't want a full refurb is because the speed line logo is painted onto the wheel andi don't think people can replicate this, hence a new wheel.

Any experiences?

Thanks :)

new wheel IMO and keep the old one as a spare

That's what I'm thinking mate but it's a cost that, if I'm being honest I can't really afford at the minute so it's weighing up my options to come either to a compromise with the fix or try and scrape the cash together :( a new 2118 is about 120 plus postage last time I bought.

Just live with the damage until next payday?

Company in chester repairs wheels. Smartrepairco
Very good and not expensive. Quoted me around £52 per wheel for a full repaint. Probably less if it's just small repair. Depends on type of rim and how it's finished.

I'm not too bothered about cost (although it's a factor), i'm more bothered about the quality of the finish RE the repair.

If its a good repairer, you'll not notice the difference. I'd refurb personally.

You'd be surprised how good repairers can be, but ultimately it all comes down to their ability to match the paint.

I once spent a whole week refurbing the wheels for my old non sport, had them on a week or so, let my mum drive the car home from a family party as I'd had a few too many beers and she oblitterated one as she tried to turn into a small road and someone was coming towards us.

Fortunately, I still had the original paint, I managed to repair it and it was literally invisible.

Went for a wheel repair. Had two done. Can't even tell they were kerbed - winner winner chicken dinner.

  It's nice
deepcar auto bodies in sheffield did my front ,after the nice man at the mot center dented & curbed it
he matched the colour perfect(without a paint code, been refurbed before)
charged me £35
had the wheel back in 2 days
