Wheel Spacers on Ph1

I had 25mm hubcentric ones on the front of mine. Fine for track (big improvement in fact) but on the roads/motorway it tramlines like a pig. Not for me i'm afraid.

I put 10mm spacers on my mcs on the front and it cut loads of understeer! Made it oversteer more though :dapprove:

Spacers will put more stress on wheel bearings. Bear that in mind if doing track days with them on the car.

measure the tyre to arch gap at your ideal ride height, that will tell you what size spacers you need. in other words get the suspension set up how you want first as not everyone has the same set up so its no good asking anyone else........

i was thinking of doing this also so 5mm on each corner or just front do you reckon ??

Its up to you mate. Front wheels look far better pushed out that little bit further in those huge ph1 arches and the handling difference is greatly improved. Rears sit just right.

5 on the back looks good. 5 on the front looks lost still. I think I might get 15mm on the front

15mm per side are perfect, no rub unless you go mad with lowering at the front, but a bit more neg camber would solve that

Not a PH1 but a PH2, which I guess are the same. These are 14.50mm

This is the prototype I did before making the final ones (Designed to my own spec, been there for 10,000mile, do not vibrate and better feeling overall)

Not sure if I used the correct terminology. There are two types; A & B = B uses bolts to secure the spacer on the hub, then a set of 4 new threaded holes with stainless steel shims for the wheel to secure into. A is as above, hub centric, but only with longer wheel bolts.

Ah, I know this already as I keep telling many people the difference between type A and type B, as both can be hubcentric.

I have no issues with type A as long as they are hunbcentric, had them on my car for many miles!
(I actually think they can be a bit more reliable, having both myself!)

Why did you choose 14.50mm, anything on the back?

Because it was the saftest smallest I could go with the appropiate wall thickness at the hub. I actually wanted to be 13 but wasn't save enough. I designed this in Catia and ran a CAE analysis.

My wheels are ET 48.5, add the 14.5 and I am at ET34 which is a bit too much for a 172. At the rear they don't rub at all even when fully loaded, but they do at the front, I need a bit more camber to correct that little issue.

And yes, I do have longer bolts
