Wheel Spacers??

  Countryman JCW
Id like to buy some spacers for my ph1 172, as ive seen some pictures of clio's with them on, and personally really like the way they make the car look. So i have a few questions regarding them.

Where to buy and how much?

How do they fit? do they literally just go on behind the wheel?

What kind of size would i be looking at, as my car is using the standard OZ f1 15" wheels.

Thanks

venommotorsport are good for spacers, ask for sy and tell him mat-nos sent you!!!
the best ones are system b hubcentric but they start at 15mm per wheel and start about £90 per pair which will be about the max for a 172 if its lowered or going to be lowered in the future.
then there are system a which are hubcentric but require the purchase of longer wheel bolts in correspondance to the width of spacer you choose (ie 10mm spacer will require 10mm longer bolts) system a start at 6mm and go up to around 20mm per wheel.
then thre is system a non hubcentric which i would only recoment for less than 6mm which you wont require longer wheel bolts with nor the hubcentric ring as there is enough lip in the hub/disc to suppert the spacerand wheel.

the choice is yours in terms of how you want the car too look, as you said there are plenty of pic of various spec clios running different sizes so just do a pic request in media or doa search.........

Ok nice one. Is it just a case then of taking the wheel off, and putting them on over the hub? and then increasing the length of the bolt if needed?

Depends on the size, some don't require longer bolts, but some do.

One's that don't come with bolts that bolt the spacer onto the hub, then you use your normal bolts to bolt the wheel onto the spacer. This is usually on bigger spacers 20mm+

Although you can still get big sizes that just have a hole right through the spacer that require longer bolts.

What would be the limit for spacers on a car that was used on a track? I assume the extra stresses would limit what you could do?

I would like to get my 172 out to the same track width as the Cup (not that I know what the difference is) but also dont want the wheels falling off on a track :)

spacers on track are fine just check the bolts every session.
they will put extra stress on wheel bearings but they arent expensive to replace if you go on track a fair bit....

system b spacers (start at 15mm per wheel) bolt to the hub with suplied bolts the use standar wheel bolts to bolt wheel to spacer but make sure you torque them up correctly.

system a spacers just use longer wheel bolts that go straight through the spacer and into the hub an do up like a normal wheel.

if you get less than 6mm spacers per wheel then you dont need longer bolts, just standard ones will do.
