quick question does a mk1 phase 3 1.4 rt have

tapper bearing or rollar bearing?

Mines is a Mk1 Ph2 1.4 RT and I think mine has roller on the front and tapered on the back from what I have been told. I think they will be the same on yours. I would get someone else to comfirm this but certainly in the haynes manual it says the rear are tapered. It doesn't say that the front are so I would imagine they are not.
