When do things start going wrong?

  Scirocco 2.0 tsi
Just wondered what kind of mileage generally do cliosports start becoming expensive.

On my old saxo i found that once it hit 60k and later that was when things like driveshafts and bearings started needing replacing.

cheers

All down to luck. I'm on my 5th RS, just about to get the first big(-ish) bill. They are like any car, get a munter and it'll be a nightmare.

all three of mine have been spot on. The highest mileage clio i had was sold with 74k. Nothing other than servicing. They take the stick well if looked after imo

Theres no real pattern tbh.
On my 51 plate 1.2 I had no problems, just routine servicing, I had the waterpump changed when the belt was done as a precaution. That had 60k on it.
My brothers 51 1.2 on 53k had a couple of coil packs, an anti roll bar linkage and judging by the irrate answering machine message a starter motor a week after it was sold lol.
My girlfriend Y plate 1.2 16v has 49k on it, thats just had a steering ecu, worked out at £350, nothing apart from that.
My 2000 172 (phase 1) has had a few little niggles, rear exhaust mount, hazard light switch, a cv boot, a drive shaft gaiter and a gearbox selector seal kit. The clip on the passengers window also broke so the window came off the regulator. I ve spent a couple of hundred on it, thats on 63k.

Not too bad really, I have seen some absolute snotters though around the same age though that need a shed load.

I'm asking because i originally wanted 1 on under 40k miles, but theres not that many around my area without paying what imo is silly money so was considering higher mileage like 50k, just don't want to buy into problems.

When my old 1.2 clio hit 60k it went down hill big time, brakes, bearings, exhaust, engine mounts, sub frame falling apart, re-tuning/timing.

So glad i got my new one!
