When to change suspension bits?

Bit of advice please, had the cup for 1 year now, loving it, its done 45K miles, I was wondering when I should change the suspension? I'm think the dampers and bushes, things that wear after a time.

I remember my 106GTI feeling loads better once I changed the rear suspension bushes.

Not sure if I will up grade to coilovers yet.
