Where are all the...

SILVER CUPS!!! [and yes I know there are only like 80 of them!]
I have been looking to buy a silver cup for the last few months and there hasn't been one that I have thought is worthy of looking at.
Just to rub salt in the wound as well, there was one on here that sold, basically the day before I began my search!!! lol.
I want a low mileage, good condition silver cup....a dont want to pay 7 grand like some garages want! lol.
There is a £100,000 reward [maybe] for any information leading to a purchase!
Thanks!!!

80 silver cups built, and there's been what, 3 or 4 winters since then, most likely to only have about 40 left by now.

Maybe see who on here has one & pm them up to see if they are planning to sell up soon ? (you never know)

there was one in chester, had a look at it. Was in mint condition, but the first owner had added A/C and traction or/abs as extras.

Im afraid i can't remember price or mileage but was mint.

www.grahamwalkerltd.co.uk this is where it was, just had a quick look and seems to have gone but they may be able to point you in the right direction.

with regards to dealerships, I have looked through all my normal places... ie. pistonheads, autotrader, ebay, and places like gumtree n papers etc etc. and there arent any 'good' ones.
would like one privately really, dealers are always on the take.... its there job. lol.

might be abit of a stupid statement but why dont you just buy a normal silver 172 and put turinis on it? that way it will look identical and you would get the bonus of half leathers, xenon ect. i know they are differnt cars and surley the cups arent that much fast over the standard 172? but if your not having much luck finding one then it may be an option?

The cup isn't much quicker, but it does drive different...

I'd still get a cup TBH.

not a stupid statement really, I had considered it briefly, but I like 'drivers cars' to be honest and by that I mean, the special editions etc that are a bit more raw.
Ive just sold a 270bhp/300lb audi TT, so want somethin thats still quick but more than anything I want the 'chuckablity'!!
I had a williams a couple of years ago and have never had a car that was as 'chuckable' since.
Im going to be partially stripping and bucket seats etc, so it would be a bit pointless to buy a car with ac and abs etc etc, when I want it to be as light as possible and im not fussed about them either.

I had a look at this before i got my 172. Imho condition just didn't justify the 5.9 (I think) they were asking for it. Ropey turinis, dints on the roof, spoiler, boot, rear quarter and door & the front bumper had been resprayed at some point. The bodywork on my 01 1.6 workhorse is in better condition tbh. :S

Was also a late registered parallel import too and had no alarm.

*Sorry if anyone off here bought it-just my opinion.

So what you're effectively saying is that it all boils down to the absence of ABS seeing as the running gear on a silver cupped 182 would be near identical (w/better output) once you'd thrown a few things in a skip and got hold of some turinis?

I'd just get a blue cup if you want to be that particular about it tbh.

I know what you mean mate, but not really.
Firstly a cup'd 182 with similar mileage etc is going to be at less 500-1k more than the silver 172cup, and it would need more things changing to be a similiar weight.

Plus, id quite like to be a bit different, I do like blue cup's but there are alot about.

So if id didn't do the work myself, it would be more expensive to change with regards to weight reduction, plus id have to insure a different set of wheels if I wanted light wheels, turinis, or aftermarket and it would be more different to original spec when it came to resale, possibly putting of potential buyers.

I guess I was just hoping someone would say... 'oh, here's a right minter and its a bargain!!!' guess not.

Damn, there are loads on autotrader that are wrongly advertised as cups, stupid dealers and seller. Dont they realise CS buyers are the most pickey and intelligent out there ;)

yeah I know, there are loads!
ps, I like to think the 'intelligent' comment was aimed at me. lol.
haha, it was all CS owners in general. Everyone i have talked to when buying mine has said they are murder to sell, easier to sell £12K scoobys apparently since the clio lot really do their homework.

Infact the guy i bought mine off said he wouldn't get a renault sport again since they are so hard to sell :p

Hard to sell,.... hard to bloody buy!!! I cant find one! lol.

one for sale local to me in Bournemouth, just round the corner in fact... however the garage wants 6k for it. I havent stopped to look at it as it doesnt interest me, but its deffo a silver cup.

  Williams 3
I know you want a silver Cup, but I really think that I could tempt you with my Mondial Cup. 48k miles, immaculate condition and totally standard. Belts were done in May and it was serviced then too. No expense has been spared.

Oh and I've just had the alloys refurbished so they look brand spankers. I'd put it in the For Sale section here but I'm not a paid up member :(
