Where do i stand clio 1.4rt

Hi
I bought a new car today, however i took it for test drive and stuff but didnt find any problems. However ive been driving it tonight and found a few problems such as:
The intermittent window wiper doesnt work
The blowers only work on phase 3 (1 or 2 dont produce nothing)
No lights behind heater controls
Radiator/Fan stayed on once after turning the engine off (although i hear this is normal, however i hadnt been driving that fast)
And to top it off it started clonking in reverse.
I know this is a lot to miss but i thought id tested as much as i could. The car is covered by a 3 month warrant which says i can take the car to any garage and get it repaired. However, ive only had it one day, should i be able to take it back to the garage and make them sort it?

When you buy a car from a car trader you have certain protection from the law. Firstly the transaction is covered by the sales of goods act (1974 – as amended by the Sale and Supply of Goods Act 1994). This act means that you can expect your purchase to be:

• fit for its purpose (this includes any special purchase made known to the seller e.g. if you tell the dealer that you tow a caravan of a certain weight)
• of satisfactory quality
• as described

The main problems with UK law is that often there are no exact definitions for these clauses. A good example of this is ‘of satisfactory quality’ what is satisfactory to one buyer may not be to another. However, there are some factors which are taken in to account by a court regarding ‘satisfactory quality’, some of these are listed below:

• the age of the vehicle
• price of the vehicle
• mileage
• description of the car

The expectations of buying a 5 year old car with 30,000 miles for £6,000 tend to differ from a 5 year old car with 190,000 miles for £2,000.

However, in all cases you can expect the car to be roadworthy.

It is important to note that cars purchased from a trader are always covered by the Sales of Goods Act and a trader can not take this away. Statements such as ‘SOLD AS SEEN’ are meaningless.

So what do you reckon i should do? Its a 92 K clio 1.4rt thats done 69k. I got it for £1475. Should i take it back to the trader and ask for them to sort it?

U should get the clonking in reverse sorted under warranty but as for the other things i dont know. What is covered in your warranty? As its an 11 yr old car things like bulbs for the heater controls are expected to go by then so I doubt theyd fix it. Go there and kick up a fuss if the guy doesnt fix it, make sure there are customers in the showroom then kick off he will soon sort it!!

Take it back and ask them to fix the stuff you mentioned. The worst you will get is a no, it will save you £££s and time after the warranty hasrun out. When I got mine I made sure I got the fogs sorted out etc, but mine was pretty mint when i got it.

ok, the electrical problems arent nothing major, however the warranty does cover the heater motor is the clonking a common/major problem. It only seems to do it sometimes, however normally when i go from gear to reverse, however i went from neutral to reverse and it was fine, and i went from 1st to reverse and it seemed fine.

BTW, how hard is it to remove the dash of a mk1? any diagrams? as i expect its just a bulb and a few wires that need fixing.
