6x9's can be good if you get some decent ones, he's hardly going to be listening to classical music and concentrating on the crispness of every note.

havent bought them yet, was just thinking about it, iv got a 1600W amp and im getting 2 pairs of the Vibe blackhex 5's and a 700W sub, wont get components too much hassel to be honest, need some decent bass when im listening to me classical FM! haha

Make sure that you're quoting watts RMS not Maximum Power, or Peak Maximum Power Output (PMPO) as only RMS is the true power output/handling ability. The rest is bullshit "Max Power" figures that mean nothing.

The basic rule is: If they don't quote power figures in RMS, DO NOT BUY!!

If you haven't already, get onto www.TalkAudio.co.uk - you'll get some sound audio advice over there. A few of us on here are over there too!

haha is my inexperience with ICE so noticeable? well iv always thaught the RMS of the speakers and sub needs to be near the wattage of the amp?

Matching the amp to the speakers/sub is a good idea as you won't overpower it, but there are some good makes out there that can happily take more power than they're rated at

Plus, if you have a more powerful amp than the speaker/sub rating then the amp won't be working so hard and will be in less stressed because of it :)

I'm faaaar from an audio expert though. Log onto TA that I mentioned above and have a read of the forum. You sound like you have a half-reasonable budget so I'm quite sure that you'll be able to get something better than what you've suggested above, especially if you're willing to go secondhand :)

Components arent that hard to fit theres a guide on here on how to fit them somewhere or there was also gives a better sound going component route.

Avoid 6x9's as they generally sound naff they try and do everything and fall short in all areas. You dont even need rear speakers really to be honest decent set of components amped up with a nice amped sub will be very loud and sound great.

All i have and the only time i have my rear speakers on is when someone is in the back of my car. Other than that theres no point i cant hear them over the fronts anyway and rear speakers drag the soundstage back.

Some makes of speakers are actually under guarantee even above what they quote there power figures at because they usually can take a fair bit more.

Also as white16valver said better to run an amp at 3/4 of its max power than having it stressed out all the time.

what if like me you dont have space for an amp and sub. i have a twin 12" box in the garage from my old car, but no room in the clio for it, what can we do to get better sound then from those ones in the dash of my 1.2 ph3 crap box clio?

You can't get a better sound from the paper champions that come standard, just upgrade to a better speaker.

Yeah im getting some speakers in the parcel shelf of my valver, I fill my boot all the time and a sub would really p**s me off. Plus it wouldnt take long for me to find a car part that i was transporting in the boot of my car sticking through the sub!

Thats why we have rear seats my shopping etc alwasy goes on the back seats or in the passenger footwell passenger seat. I dont usually have anyone else in the car when im carting things around so doesnt matter.

I don't understand why people have this loathing for 6"x9"s!?!?! I've got Infinitr Kappa components and Infinity Reference 6"x9"s in my Trophy and it sounds 1,000,000 times better than the OEM offering!

6x9's are sh*te mate.. just get a decent pair of components and a decent amp!

FPMSL!!!!

How true - i justd ont like how they sit there looks awful IMO but then i suppose each to their own - if we all liked the same it would be a very boring world

  Polo + Micra
i'd run an amp as close to full power as possible as you get a better THD some how

  Polo + Micra
yeah full power just before clipping as your THD drops like a stone if it clips lol
