where is best to get an ipod from? + some q's

I have a few questions. As you'll see I know naff all about them !

Where is the cheapest place to get an ipod from ? (any links please, but no dodgy ebay sellers etc) I want either the 2gig or the 4 gig one.

Also are they un reliable ? as i have heard stories about batteries only lasting about 10 mins, plus screens cracking & them not wanting to know about it.

What are the differences between the mini & the nano one (is the nano one just a bit smaller & newer out ?)

How easy is it to get the music on the tihng ? is that what I tunes is for ?


I want one for the gym etc.
My phone (se w800i) can have music on it, but I don't want to take the phone into the gym, plus the software is pants on it.

No, they arn't. Anything breaks if you bend/hit ti hard enough

Yep. Nano is smaller, colour screen, and looooooooooooooooks sooooooo nice!

Yep, plug in.. and it syncs playlists/library or just the songs you drag to it - very simple.

I want one for the gym etc.

the nanos are hard to get cheap, i only can get the 4gb 10 to 20 pound cheaper. but if you go for the 60gb i can get them for near nuff £50 cheaper

On apples web site the 2gb is £139 & the 2gb is £179

Had a quick look on ebay & the 2gb can be had for £120 inc postage & the 4gb for about £140, but its ebay though :evil:

I have looked on price runner but they are all the same prices as apples site.

I got my 4gb Nano from the Apple shop. I use it most days in the gym and charge it every couple of weeks, either when adding music or by listening to stuff while it's attached to my Xbox 360. I've not scratched it or broken it yet and it does take a fair pounding.

Think I paid about £179 for mine, but it is cool. It's sooo thin and small and far more tasteful than others you can get.

I'm sure you can get better mp3 players, but they just aren't iPods are they.

I tunes is okay, but I made a mistake of letting it handle my music, it moved it all around into a fucked up directory structure. That's not too bad for correctly labelled albums, but downloaded old school and DJ sets were all over the place. Took my ages to split up my music collection so ripped CDs were in one area and all my odd stuff was in another. It's fine now, but I'd not let it manage your music for you or you'll never be able to locate it on your hard drive!
