where to buy a new clio 172 sport

Gents ,

Been thinking about buying one for a couple of months now and have finally decided to get one . What I need to know is where is the best place to get them from ? Best price Ive seen is 12k for a 53 reg with esp . Dont think this comes with cruise though which is what I want. Does anyone know when the 172s have cruise fitted as standard ?

From what I can gather (Theres been a bit of talk on here recently about this subject) all UK ones being manufactured now will have cruise fitted.... So if you order from a dealer and the car is ordered from the factory it should have cruise fitted....

All Clios produced in the factory after June have cruise I belive.

12 K fo a new 1172 seems excellent value ebing as Cups are about 11. What is that form or do you know someone who works at Renault?

Its worth 1K extra for the extras you get. (Well I would prefere extras)

12K is a good price. I paid £12800 on the road for mine in May. Euro import with no hassle from the local renault dealer.

motor provider.co.uk at sheffiled airport terminal, a broker do sport 172s with ESP for 11850, full UK spec apart from a class 2 alarm,(does not affect insurance at all) renault uk upgrade to a class1 when they arrive in england. standard 3 years renault warrenty, mines coming on saturday, I ordered it 2nd week of august, it been sat in portsmouth docks for 1 week, it seems common problem that people have ordered theirs in july and are not getting them till october, new car discount.co.uk has been mentioned with these sales!!, the august factory closure should not have affected anything as the cars are already built waiting to be shipped, any delays are probably due to the french being french!!

been speaking to them today and they said the cars from motor provider dont have cruise fitted , and they wont be getting any with cruise fitted until their current batch is all sold , and even then it will be for 12850 , which seems a little strange as the uk price hasnt changed due to cruise being fitted as standard . Looks like Im going to have to go elsewhere , for the car .

Dont even mention the delay (I seam to repeat this loads) I ordered mine from a reno dealer in July and have a delivery date of 16th October. Dealer couldnt confirm the cruise control and they had no idea about it! said theyd email renault uk and ask them the ring me on monday.

Any guesses to whether I got a phone call or not?

From what I read in the message jeremy townsend (He seems very knowledgable on renault) posted on here (this is what I made of what he said...) it was the cars destinned for the UK that would have cruise fitted, these cars themselves are slightly more specced than their european counterparts (alarm).

From what you are saying about your dealer infers that they are selling european cars - so its very possible that there will be a price increase from them to have a car with cruise, because its a UK spec one rather than a european spec one....

Pete_172, I hope you get a phone call from them, that way all of us with delivery dates in mid october will at least have some idea of what were getting!

Why do you want an import when you can get a UK supplied car for £12200 from new-car-discount or ukcarbroker.co.uk?

in reply, new-car-discount are currently selling 03 plate 172s for 12500, not 53 plates for 11850 as ive just paid at motor provider, they are not imports in the true sense of what an import is, they are direct from renault through a broker without going through renault uk ( and a big price hike), again full uk spec and warrenty, just a class 2 alarm, if you upgrade yourself to a class 1 thatcham alarm, the only difference will be the price you have paid, at present, probably no -one has one with cruise control, as they were only being built for 2 weeks beofre the factory shut down, so all models being delivered soon will be pre-july stock......

thanks for the info looks like Im going to have to wait , went into a showroom at the weekend for a test drive and they said they could sell me one with cruise for 14600 .............. I think Ill definately wait !

Why do you want cruise?

£14600 is the list price, theres no way you should pay that. Just phone round a few dealers and ask them if they can get anywhere near the brokers prices. Thats what I did for my CUP.

Im currently looking to buy a 172 Sport in RED or SILVER (advice please!!), does anyone know any rough delivery times id be looking at?? Ill phone my local dealership tomorrow and find out exactly, just wondered if anyone knew?!

I suppose 2months isnt THAT bad?! I had to wait 6weeks for my clio dynamique so im sure i could manage to wait for the 172!

Ill be getting friends and family discount too so that should save me a few quid

Just gotta decide what colour to get it in and quick so i can order it!

Has anyone got any Decent photos of the 172 in SILVER and RED? Also, advice on which colour to go for would be much appreciated!

I think i might go for the 172 in Red because i reckon the silver are going to be sooooooo common now you can get the Clio 172 Cup in that colour!
