Which DeCat - potential gains?

Right, thinking about getting a Decat to finish the engine side of thing on my 172. Can anyone recommend a particular brand? Also what sort of gains can I expect to achieve?
I'm currently running around 200bhp with all my mods.

  Trophy #473
Janspeed, its the cheapest, wont see much gain, more free reving and a little more noise, dont be taken in by so called 'better' decats that retail for £150 etc because they are exactly the same as the cheaper ones, just have a few fancy welds.... which no one will see. At the end of the day its a bent peice of shiney pipe which companys put a massive mark up on.

wat have you done to get it too 200 bhp pal?

  b/g 182, meg tourer
its a straight peice of hollow pipe so there will be no difference in gains with different brands.
you will just see nicer materials and better welds
(i have a k-tek one and its tidy)

  AMV8, Mk1 Golf
i have a janspeed and its made well ( nice weld on the flanges)
other than that its a straight pipe, i didnt actually notice any difference, a little more noise thats it

I have a silenced janspeed. Nothing wrong with it. No point paying extra for a piece of pipe. It's well built enough and I've certainly not heard of any make of decats failing!!

I noticed a definite improvement, but I did get my ProSpeed swapped for a piper exhaust at the same time.

Any will do, I bought the cheapest one I could find and that was in stock at the time. Went for a GDI one in the end.

You will get a slight increase in exhaust noise (normally for the better) and maybe a few points and increase in torque - but don't expect miracles.

What back box do you have? Maybe it was designed to be loud with a std cat - does it have straight through centre section?
