Which head unit?????

Looking for new head unit. budget is 250-350.

Looking for dvd or one with a easy out hard drive so i can have loads of tracks.

Gotta be good at scanning through and finding mp3`s (my old kenwood was shat at this and didnt do it very well)

Like the jvc`s but dont know how good they are as never had a jvc

The new alpine ipod looks nice but u need a bloody ipod!

Also it has to match so no silver efforts.

Any ideas on what others have and how they fare would be a good help.

Then its on to changing the (shitty i cant go higher than a mouse scream) standard speakers

With the new ipod headunit you can also connect other mp3 players and removable harddisks as it is connected via USB

Id recommend either the
Alpine 9855r - loads and loads of features with great expandability.
or the
Alpine IDA - X001 - solely made for ipod, looks great but not as many features.

I'd say go for either Alpine or Pioneer. They have the best scanning screens and the best flexibility on equalising. More expensive but worth the cost.

right question about that alpne ipod. can u link a hard drive up to it and would it read tracks on the screen as it should. where can u get hard drives from that are powered in car

the alpine can read ant usb devic from what i understand bt no hard drive!
the only main stream unit i know of wsa a sony one where the facia plate hat 1gb memory built inta it!

not what im lookin for that. one being its silver. a silver head unit looks gash in a black housing. i know ive been there. sticks out like a sore thumb. ive seen that blaupunkt casablanca with its 40gb hard drive but the head unit isnt nice enough

Is this headunit any good for mp3 playback via a dvd? Does it offer plenty of options for browsing and searching for tracks?
