Which oil

  Weeman sucks ****

I have a Cup and my local Renault dealer told me they use Castrol GTX 10 W 40 oil. As my trust with dealerships is near enough non existant (mainly due to my last car, built by those chaps at Ford), it would be great to hear your advice on here...who i do trust by the way. We all know that dealers charge what they want nowadays for oil.

Also, what the hell is that little pip/button thing under the passenger side wing mirror? Its annoying me what its for now!

Cheers.

temperature guage sensor (i think)

I would use mobil1, but people have varying opinions.

Castrol GTX is good oil, so you shouldnt have any problem using it.

The Mobil 1 stuff is very thin, but a good oil, but for an engine like the 172, I wouldnt imagine you would get any benefit from using it over the Castrol oil, and the Mobil 1 costs more.

Magnatex is also good to have, althou whether its a gimmick or not I dont know.

That little button is the interior-rattles-prevention button. In the owners manual it states it should never be pushed or prodded, or interior rattles will occur :) Actually, good to finally know what it is, I wondered that too, and prodded it a bit, looked like a water drop from inside the car, and sure enough, Ive got a few rattles starting.
