Whirring noise when moving - wheel bearings?

  BMW E46 330i Touring
Noise that tends to increase in pitch as you go faster...?

The rear brakes were changed less than 12 months ago, so I'd hope the bearings are fine so I'm guessing it's the fronts.

How much am I looking, each?

I paid £70 for a bearing on a 1.4, think that was rear.

Not sure if the hub has to be replaced on the 172 or just the bearing though.

:( More expense.

I'm hoping it's not the rear as from what I've read it seems you may as well replace the whole rear disc (bearings pressed in?). But then I may have that completely wrong...

I don't know what they're like on the 172 tbh. Just checked and mine was a rear bearing for £78. The guy said he wouldn't know if it was the whole thing replacing until he looked at, which would be £2-300 I think he said.

The 1.4 was only drum brakes on the back so don't know how big a difference that makes. Worth looking on eurospares or something to see if you can buy just the bearing anyway, if you can the hopefully should just be able to replace that.

Usually get mine at cost from renault, or from Yozzasport.

Does not usually cost more than 40 notes.
