white smoke

was driving behind my mates valver when he accelerated in second then took his foot of the accelerator and a puff of white smoke came out of the exhaust.

what could this be?

If its gasket it would be more obvious driving wise..but that sort of thing is generally worn seals around the pistons..inevitable stuff..could be a broken ring too (matron!)

  Skoda Fabia vRS

if it was oil the smoke wouldnt be white, it would be blue/purple

white smoke is usually just condensation in the exhaust system

LARGE amounts of oil make white smoke, but generally a valvestem seal or a rig would make a blue haze non stop on full throttle. You would also get alot of blowby and increased crankcase pressure and a loss of power.

The puff of white smoke if the car wasnt cold could just be some oil thrown up through the breather system.

Love your end of tech help Rob........lol
